In Goa, one rape every 18 days
Though Goa has seen several high-profile sexual abuse cases of late, the state is actually among the safer places for women in terms of rape cases. In Goa, a rape case was reported at an average of 26,280 minutes (18.25 days). This may be consolation in comparison, but it will come as a shock for many Goans.
The rape capital of India is Madhya Pradesh, where every 174.6 minutes (under three hours), a woman was raped. National capital Delhi was the most unsafe metropolis, witnessing a rape in every 1,000 minutes (16 hours 40 minutes), according to the latest government data, prepared by National Crime Records Bureau.

PANAJI: On a day of confusing and conflicting stands by various government departments, south Goa collector GP Naik issued an order on Thursday banning parties, musical nights, beach shows and fireworks on south Goa beaches from December 23, 2008 to January 5, 2009, but withdrew the same later in the day.Naik in his order, issued under section 144 of CrPC, had said that "being convinced from the police report as well as other circumstantial facts, I am of the opinion that there is sufficient ground for proceeding under section 144 of CrPC and immediate preventive of speedy remedy is desirable."
